Hi Pete,

Thanks for your reply and story, I know a lot of people enjoy that area, for good reason.

To answer your question, the last time I've visited Big Lyford was about a year ago, however I do know that my father and uncle have been there as recent as October with no problems. Are you sure that we're talking about the same pond? I know at one point there were rumors or talk about the land owners closing out guests from any type of motor vehicles from accessing their roads but that has turned out to be false so far.

When I was a child and up into my late teens we would go go from Greenville to Big Lyford to fish and have dinner. Mr and Mrs Sherman rented out cabins and served meals in the main lodge building. I have fond memories of the fishing there with my father and grandfather. I still spend several weeks each summer at the family camp on Moosehead. There was a period from 1978-2000 that I did not get to Moosehead at all. When I returned in 2000 I tried to get into Lyford Pond and the road was blocked off. I asked around Greenville and was told someone had bought Sherman's camps and did not welcome visitors. I have since discovered that there is another way to get into the pond and I plan on going there next Sept. If anyone knows anything about the current situation I would appreciate that info. My name is Pete and my email is retep51@optonline:disqus.net. Thank you, James, for the great post and photos

What a beautiful day. I will always remember the smile that was on James' face that whole day...I don't think he has ever smiled so much! I am so proud to have Robin as a daughter in law. May the Lord bless you with many many years together. What God has joined together let no man put away.

Thanks, it took a long time to finalize this entry, it's the longest piece I've written.

I think Robin and I combined, we took about 1,000 photographs that we kept.
