Who am I?

My name is James K. Ogden, I am currently 29 and live in Bangor, ME. I work for a large healthcare organization as a Sr. Software Support Specialist. I am married to the most wonderful woman… Robin. (October 4th, 2008)

Likes… Interests… Et cetera

First I would like to say that I am a Christian. I have been saved since I was 6; however I started to really grow in the Word and the Lord at around age of 2005.

I have an interest in computers, technology and electronics. I have always had an interest in technology ever since I was a child; whenever I got a new RC toy, I would take it apart and figure out how it ran. When I'm not playing with electronics I enjoy the outdoors; we love hiking, camping, kayaking, wildlife and photography. I also enjoy reading a good fantasy or Christian based book. I enjoy Science Fiction books, movies, shows, etc.

My all-time favorite show is Stargate SG-1; I have every season on DVD. I also enjoy watching Stargate Atlantis, LOST, Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek (The Original Series, The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager and Enterprise [everything except for the 'new iteration' of Star Trek]), 24, Prison Break, Criminal Minds and any other type of similar show. I'm an avid gamer; most of my gaming time is spent on the Xbox 360 then Nintendo Wii or Robin's Nintendo DS. Some of my all-time favorite games include: Super Mario Bros series, The Legend of Zelda series, Metroid series, Megaman X series, Half-Life series and Halo Series. I also grew up with an interest in photography- having the ability to capture a moment and freeze it forever was intriguing to me. Since 2007 I have delved more into digital photography and am continuing my understanding and enjoyment of this hobby. Wherever Robin and I go we take our cameras with us.

Where to find JKOgden on the 'net

You can find me at the following sites: Xbox.com; Zune.net, Windows Messenger, Flickr and of course this website. I list this because there are other people using this alias as well out there. I regularly us many other websites but under a generic anonymous account.

Tools used to build JKOgden

I've been asked, “What do you use to design and code your site?” I strictly use a text-based, syntax highlighted editor, Notepad++; it works great for CSS, XHTML and PHP. As for creating images, I mainly use Paint Shop Pro/Photoshop; the blog portion of JKOgden.net is run by WordPress and the other portions such as this page are run independently from WordPress. The majority of the little icons used are from the “Silk” icon set by famfamfam. I have utilized a few miscellaneous scripts from Dynamic Drive.

I am a freelance web designer, if you are looking to have a site designed or upgraded, please contact me.

I am the type of person that likes to utilize one company's many different offerings / products whether it's technology, auto, electronics or any other type of item; so when it comes to technology I have always been a fan of Microsoft-despite some of their past/current problems. Microsoft has a large number of offerings that suit my needs; the best part is that I can log into any Microsoft product (Office Live, Xbox Live, Live Mail, Live Calendar, Sky Drive, Zune) and access my content, purchase content, etc. I do however embrace other products where one company does not fulfill my needs. Here's a list of tools I use on my primary desktop:

  • Windows 7
  • Windows Live Mail Client (Email & Calendar)
  • Office 2010 Suite (Word & Excel primarily)
  • Firefox
  • Canon Digital Photo Professional, Adobe Lightroom, GeoSetter, & Windows Live Photo Gallery
  • Notepad++
  • Evernote
  • FileZilla
  • Zune Media Player
