Leaving… on an air plain

Aug 29

Well, today starts my vacation. I stay at Dad and Karen’s last night, stayed up late and watched the season finale of “The 4400″ and “The Dead Zone”… both ended nicely and suspenseful.

We got up @ 5:30 in the morning, showered and left for Portland, ME. We got there around 8:30 in the morning, 1/2 hour earlier. I said my good-bye’s to Dad and Karen and went through the gate. The first plain was small, it held ~ 40 people. The flight was really neat, we only went up about 4 miles, right above the first level of clouds. I looked out the window most of the time. I landed in Philly, stopped at a gift store in the airport and picked up a magnet for PA. After that, I checked in to my gate and read for about 45 minutes until my plain to Greensboro, NC was ready.

An hour later I arrived in NC. When I got to the gate, I was surprised to see a shoe shinning station with a sign in-front of it labeled with a verse in the Bible that mentioned Christ. I headed towards the gift shop and purchased a NC magnet. I headed out to the exit and found mom and Jack waiting for me. It was good to see them both. The ride to Bedford VA was over an hour and I had barley eaten all day so we ate at a Texas steakhouse. I had a 1/2lb burger with fries.

After, we headed to Bedford, VA. It’s about 23 miles from Lynchburg. We got their house and settled in.

Once I was home, Jack turned on Fox News and we watched all of the Destruction that Hurricane Katrina had done to New Orleans… What a devastating event. The media is calling this an apocolyptic event, which it is not… this is a day in the park compared to what the end times will bring on.

Week overview

Aug 27

Main had another nice weekend. Today is just a cleaning and rest day. This blog entry will take care of this past week.

Last Friday (not last night) I helped my friend Rich out with his new Samsung 50″ HDTV. What a nice looking set, it’s a DLP. I hooked up my Xbox and we played a little bit of Halo 2, Amped 2. We also watch pieces of Lord of the Rings and The Matrix. After, I went home and watched SciFi Friday.

Last Tuesday I got a hold of an old High school friend’s number and gave him a call. Nate and Crystal and I hung out for the night, caught up on what’s happened since HS four years ago.

Last Wednesday I finally got all my stuff in that I had ordered awhile ago. I purchased a Christian t-shirt that depicts the cell phone connectivity (the bars) and the top bar is the cross, it says “Get Connection with Christ”. I also ordered two magnets for the fridge, Lion and Lamb and three crosses with the Ichtus fish. The last was a metal tin that looks just like Coca Cola, but says Jesus Christ, Cures all thirsts.

Now, to today, the 27th. I cleaned my apartment and got everything packed. Yep, packed, I’m taking a vacation, from August 29th – September 5th. I’m flying down to Mom and Jack’s in Virginia. I’m excited, I haven’t flown on a large air plain since I was a child. My arms are a little sore from playing catch with Nate last night. We had a good time though, we are going to buy a bat so we can hit. I have also hung up my two now frames for the living room. One says The Lord is my Sheppard and the other is a photo of a lake in England. I had them framed and matted, it cost around $165 all-together.

Camping with Dad

Aug 06

Another sunny and clear Saturday! Maine has really had a great summer this year. I went up to Dad’s camp again. We went 4-wheeling with about 7 other people. We rode for about 60 miles. I got to see Big Spenser up close… what an enormous mountain. I don’t know why, but I love mountains. I plan on climbing it this fall. After awhile of Dad driving, I took my turn. We stopped at a bog to eat and rest. All of the sudden two F-22 Raptors come flying up over the mountain ridge. The military practices up north a lot. It was really neat to see them and really loud! We took off and came to some muddy trails, I decided to get a little muddy so tore up the trails. Dad like it, we both had a great time getting soaked in mud. By the time we got back to the truck, I was completely soaked in mud!

We hung out around the camp fire again. Dad and I found a bunch of things to burn. We both have a fascination with fire. The sun was starting to sit and was casting a purple / blue light over Roach Pond and Big Spenser. I took some photos of it. I left after it got dark and saw two moose crossing the road.
